Bony Landmarks
Dorsal tubercle
Posterior distal bump, also called Lister’s tubercle, guiding extensor pollicis longus.
Head
Disc-shaped proximal epiphysis that articulates with the humerus and ulna.
Interosseous border
Sharp medial edge along the shaft for interosseous membrane attachment.
Neck
Narrow region just distal to the head and a common fracture site.
Radial tuberosity
Rough anterior projection where 💪 biceps inserts.
Styloid process
Pointed distal projection anchoring the radial collateral ligament and 💪 brachioradialis.
Ulnar notch
Distal medial concavity articulating with the head of the 🦴 ulna.
Muscles Insertions
- Radial tuberosity, bicipital aponeurosis
- Supination of the forearm and elbow flexion
- Lateral surface of the radius (midshaft)
- Pronates and weakly flexes the forearm
- Proximal lateral radius
- Supination of the forearm
- Styloid process of 🦴 radius
- Flexion of the forearm at the elbow
